Cruise This is based on the 10-night Martha’s Vineyard/Charleston/Bermuda cruise from Cape Liberty, departing on May 8, 2025. This may be the cleanest ship I have ever been on (Over 20 cruises). Everywhere you turned, somebody was cleaning. Every time I entered a public restroom, it seemed as if there was somebody in there mopping or wiping the counters. I also like that they give linen cloths to dry your hands. The service overall was exceptional. If I could give 4.5-Stars I would. But I can’t give it a 5, so I went with 4. You can read below to see why. Boarding Embarkation/Debarkation: Both embarkation and debarkation were very easy to navigate. We had a boarding time of 12:00. I made a late reservation onboard for 12:45, so we decided to try our luck and get there early. I would say we arrived at the port around 11:20, and were on the ship by 11:40. Muster station, trip to the room to drop a bag and get our sea pass cards, and we were on deck by noon. Debarkation was also very smooth. Everybody had luggage tags with numbers assigned to them. As usual, we left the bags out the night before to be picked up. We woke up and went to the buffet for breakfast. After breakfast we ventured downstairs and waited for our tag number to be called. Once called we got in line and we were off the ship within 10 minutes. Our bags were waiting for us, and we just proceeded through customs and out the door. We were in an Uber and on our way home within ten minutes. Stateroom We had a prime veranda stateroom and deck 9. The room was spotless. Our cabin steward was excellent. They clean the room twice a day, which is nice. If we needed anything, we had it before we returned to our room. Bed was comfortable. TV could have had a few more channels, but not that big of a deal. There was a decent amount of storage, safe, refrigerator (Which did have stuff in it. We asked that it be cleared so we could put water in there. No problem at all), and the suitcases fit nicely under the bed. The room also came with two robes and an umbrella. Only complaint was the light on the stateroom phone! Seemed to illuminate the entire room at night. I would grab a wash cloth from the bathroom to cover it. Food Buffet (Breakfast): We exclusively ate breakfast in the Oceanview Café. They had a wide selection of food, a made to order egg station, made to order eggs benedict station, and ham carving station. There were the usual American breakfast items, waffles, pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, etc. They had a good selection of fresh rolls and pastries. They also had an English breakfast station with bangers, fried bread, beans, English bacon, etc. They food was the same daily, but they had a nice variety, and it was solid all around. The service was excellent. They were extremely quick to clear the table or refill a coffee. Buffet (Dinner): We went to the Oceanview twice for dinner and were completely underwhelmed. The first night we went they had Turkish, Greek, Indian, Stir Fry and Tex-Mex. None are my cup of tea. Basically, my choices were pizza or a hamburger. She is not as picky as I am, and she wasn’t thrilled either. Our second trip was not much better. If not for the dinner in Oceanview, this probably would have been a 5-Star cruise IMO. MDR: All in all the food was very good. Exceptional all around? No. But very good. I didn’t have one meal that I didn’t care for, and the closest thing that was excellent were the short ribs on the last night. And they were very good. She ordered seafood most nights and enjoyed her dishes. I wasn’t big on the appetizer selections (I don’t eat seafood), and for the second straight Celebrity cruise, the onion soup was eh. The service was top notch from the waiter. The assistant waiter was OK. Craft Social: We came back to the ship a little later one evening from port and we were not going to try the buffet again. So, we opted to try Craft Social. It is an added fee for food, but the prices were not that steep. The menu is more of an appetizer/small plate thing. We ordered the buffalo chicken balls, sliders and the turkey club. Surprisingly, the food was very good! Everything we had was tasty. Glad we went here and will again on future cruises. Entertainment Guest Entertainment: We only saw one entertainer, comedian/magician Kyle Marlett. He was very entertaining. They had two other guest entertainers throughout the cruise. People were raving about musician Kuba Kawnik. I am sorry I missed him. Everybody I heard said he was excellent. From what I was hearing from other guests about the other, comedian Christina Walkinshaw, not so much. I heard numerous people even state that the just left. Again, I did not see either of the last two performances, but those were other passengers takes. And three guest entertainers for a cruise is pretty good. In-House Entertainment: I thought the house entertainment overall was some of the best we have seen. The acoustic guitarist, Candice, was great. She mostly played in the Ensemble Lounge, but also did a Bob Marley tribute one night in the Sky Lounge, which was great. They had an acoustic duo, Jaris and Gem, who were very talented. They played guitar, piano, saxophone, flute, etc., along with vocals. Hashtag was the house band, and they were entertaining. Excellent musicians. True Colours band was very good also. They all did a number of tribute shows at night of various famous artists. They also had Jason who played the steel pan. He was entertaining but would have preferred a Reggae type of band instead. Now, I think what set this cruise entertainment apart from the others were the production shows. I am NOT a big production show person and go mostly because she tends to enjoy them. This production team was phenomenal. Best I have seen. On our last five cruises we have walked out of at least one show. Not here. We wanted more. Hollywood Cabaret was very good, but go figure, Boogie Wonderland may have been the best I have seen. Kudos to the entire cast. That all being said, one other thing that contributed to a 4.5 and not 5, was that on most days, music didn’t start until 5:15 PM. They kept touting an activity every 15 minutes, which is great if you want to participate, but I just like to sit, relax and hear some live music. That was really a bummer. Ports: As a precursor here, and I will mention them below, Celebrity can’t control the weather, so that did not affect this rating at all. Martha’s Vineyard: The weather was looking iffy days before, and it is a tender port, so we weren’t sure we were going to make it in. But, lo and behold, the weather was beautiful in the morning. We made a point of going down early to make sure we got onto a tender (Read my Celebrity Eclipse review from last year). We boarded the tender and off we went. Martha’s Vineyard is a nice little town. We walked around some shops, and up and down their main shopping street. We had planned to stop for a drink and probably an appetizer in a local place. We walked up to look at the water, and I said we should head back. She didn’t understand, but the bay had whitecaps starting to form. We went to one or two more shops and headed back to the tender area. By the time we got back, there was a sizeable line, and the fog was so heavy that the ship could not be seen. So, the tenders were basically grounded. As it started to clear, we could see a silhouette of the ship (No pun intended!), so they started boarding the two tenders they had there. We were “lucky” enough to get on the second of the two. Once we got through the inlet, the fog returned, and we lost sight of the ship. The waters picked up and we were rocking and rolling! Water was coming through the top of the tender from over the bow, as the tender driver had to look out the top. Once we got to within 30 yards or so of the ship, the tender driver picked up his radio and said, “I think I can see you”, the tender erupted in cheer, at least those who weren’t turning green! We were known as the tender that got lost the rest of the cruise. Now why did I say we were “lucky”? We were the last tender they allowed back for quite some time. There was zero visibility. It then started to rain, and the line in Martha’s continued to grow. The temperatures also started to drop. They called in buses so people could board them and try and stay dry and warm. Celebrity also handed out blankets and broth. Some people waited for hours. I felt for the captain and crew. He was damned if he did, damned if he didn’t. And he made the decision to try it. Charleston: This was my first time in Charleston. It is a cute little place. Again, the weather did not cooperate, but we made the best of it. We walked down to the French Quarter and did a horse and carriage ride. It was nice until halfway through when what seemed like a monsoon came in. We did continue for the entire hour in the rain, but again, can’t really control that. We then walked through the rain to the market. They had some nice things. But then it started to flood from the rain, so we tried to venture around it and went to a pub for a drink and to dry off. Day two, we walked up and down King St. Problem with a lot of these towns, the stores and shops don’t open until 10:00-11:00. So, if you are an early person, or, the ship departs at 2:00 PM, you really don’t have a lot of time to explore them. Bermuda: Been here numerous times. Day one we hung around the Dockyard as we didn’t dock until 3:00 PM. Did some shops and went to the Frog and Onion for dinner and drinks. Day two, we bought a one-day transportation pass. We jumped on the ferry up to St. Georges, walked around, had lunch, then jumped on a bus heading back towards Hamilton. We jumped off at the Crystal Caves. We did the caves, then crossed over to the Swizzle Inn for a pitcher of rum swizzle. We jumped back on the bus into Hamilton. Walked around the shops for a while, then went to Hog Penny Pub (Maybe our favorite). Took the ferry back to the Dockyard from there. On day three, we decided to head to Horseshoe. Now, I tell everybody not to buy the excursion to Horseshoe from the ships, as they have shuttles at the port for $7 PP to get to Horseshoe, which is much cheaper. The problem is the shuttle won’t leave until they are almost full. So, one could sit for some time waiting for others. Anyway, Horseshoe was a wash. After being there for about 45 minutes, thunder and lightning started to come in. Had to get out of the water. Pretty much decided just to go back to the ship. By the time we got back it was pouring rain. Bars/Lounges: Craft Social: The Celebrity version of a sports bar. Small bar area with a larger seating area. There is a foosball table and Golden Tee golf. They do have a decent beer selection, and food you can purchase. We frequented this one. You can also hear the live music being played in the Grand Foyer. Ensemble: Kind of in a closet. Dark and no windows. It does tend to get crowded in the evening as it sits right outside of the specialty restaurants, so people congregate for pre-dinner drinks. They do also have entertainment which is a draw. Without the entertainment, I probably wouldn’t go too often. Martini Bar: Pretty much always crowded. Bar top made of ice. We are not really martini drinkers. They do a flair show which is neat. We only went once. Bartenders also were probably the least social. Mast Bar: Overlooking the pool area. They have tables and a bar. Good service up here. It also is a smoking area on the ship. Passport Bar: Probably spent most of our time here. We could usually get a seat, and it was right off the Grand Foyer, so we could see and enjoy the entertainment. Pool Bar: Always crowded as it is right by the pool. Didn’t hit it up once, but your typical cruise ship pool bar. Sky Lounge: Late night place. Sometimes didn’t even open until 9:00. Seems that Park West held a lot of private events here, which is a shame. Would be a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset. I guess Park West pays a nice dime. Live entertainment most nights. Sunset Bar: We only went once. Probably would have gone more if the weather was a bit better. Beautiful views off the back of the ship. Service was good. One side is smoking, the other side not. Nicer than the Eclipse from last year, as this has been refurbished and updated. World Class Bar: Never went. I am a beer drinker, so really no need. Sits right in the middle of the ship. Synopsis: On the last night of the cruise, we were sitting at Craft Social. And funny, despite the weather, we both agreed that this was our favorite cruise ever. We have taken five together, and I have been on over 20. The ship was great. Clean, easy to navigate, the entertainment was good up and down, and the service top notch. The only thing that kept it from getting a 5-Star was the food for dinner in the Oceanview Café, and the lack of live music during the day. I could also probably throw in their use of the Sky Lounge, catering more towards Park West than to their passengers. That being said, I have already booked the Silhouette for next year to Bermuda. Already counting the days!
-Arrived at appointed embarkation time and was whisked through and onto the ship. Our cabin was available and we deposited our carry ons and went off for a light lunch at the oceanview. -The room was spotless, clean and inviting. The steward was excellent. We were in cabin it was superbly located...quiet and convenient to the pools and the oceanview cafe. -We checked our late seating dinner assigned table and found it all the way in the back right ante room and attempted to change the table. We were only offered a small table in the main area but not along a window as requested. Of note, the entire cruise a few window tables remained unoccupied on the port side. they were tables for 4 or 6, but nobody was seated there. An easy move for the maitr'd of 2 of us at a larger empty table. The waiter Asep was excellent. So a plus there. The food choices were good, although the menu has been downgraded over the years. We have been on celebrity since the early 90's, and remember rack of lamb, and more elegant bill of fare when celebrity was affiliated with Chef Michel Roux. The soups and appetizers/entrees were a higher level of quality. -Love cruising from Bayonne to Bermuda. Very relaxing cruise. Bermuda is beautiful. -The cruise was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommend. Plenty to do if you want to be active also. The ship is a perfect size,.
My parents and I sailed on this ship in favor of Bermuda. The embarkation process was smooth and started a little earlier than expected due to the conclusion of a Coast Guard inspection. We were able to check in to our muster stations without an issue after Watching the videos prior to our terminal arrivals. Then, our cruise was on. Complimentary eateries for the general cruise population included the buffet, main dining room (one floor for anytime, while other is for fixed), the Mast Grill, healthy food fare at Spa Cafe (didn't eat there), and Cafe Al Bacio's food items. Anything else besides what I mentioned here required extra pay. The main buffet served a variety of foods, with everyday offerings of pasta, pizza, burgers, salads, and ice cream, along with a different theme of cuisines that changed daily (ex: German, French, etc.). Every night, made-to-order stir-fry was available. During off-meal hours, pizza, burgers, and ice cream were available at select times. Around the clock, complimentary dispenser drinks were always available, including water, LAVAZZA drip-coffee, Vitality fruity drinks (NOT 100% Juice), and premium tea bags. More on the buffet, my favorite stations were the carvery, ice cream, pizza, and in the nighttime, stir-fry. I enjoyed whatever the chef carved daily, whether it was chicken, beef, or pork. For the hard ice cream, if you're a fan of the "After 8" Dinner Mints, I recommend you try their flavor of just that. Their pizza was definitely a step-up over Royal Caribbean. The stir-fry was the best I ever had at sea. The overall food quality for everything else (entrees, soups, etc.) ranged from very good to excellent. Keep in mind that for their omelet-making stations, they don't give you buzzers, therefore you must remain nearby until your name is called for the pick-up. The main dining room served a convergence of cuisines on a nightly basis along with same-day offerings. There were a couple of nights when the menus didn't appeal to us, so we ended up in the buffet instead. But for the nights we were there, the quality of our meals were excellent. The formal night dinners were our favorites, because you can never go wrong with a creamy tomato soup, lobster tail, beef wellington, and baked alaska on a sea night. Cafe Al Bacio is Royal Caribbean's smaller yet sweeter cousin of the Royal Promenade. Unlike Royal Promenade, you can't get any complimentary drinks here. Any drink you can possibly think of requires extra pay here. But anything food-wise that's offered here, is complimentary. In the mornings at Cafe Al Bacio, it was all about the breakfast pastries. Other times, it was about various cakes, cookies, pastries, and small assortments of mini sandwiches. The cheese danishes, coconut macaroons, chocolate and lemon tarts won me over in this section. Those who needed complimentary water or drip-coffee had to go to the buffet to grab some to enjoy with your treats. The Mast Grill on the upper outer deck served burgers, hot dogs, and fries. Additionally, a soft-serve ice cream machine along with fruity drink and water dispensers were available as well. I enjoyed a savory bacon cheeseburger with fries and a refreshing soft serve strawberry cone. This is a classic combo that can't be missed here. We had a balcony stateroom with decent storage space, comfortable beds & pillows, and 100% free on-demand movies (curated at their discretion). All shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion was available from dispensers only. They don't give out bottles of this stuff anymore. Unlike other cruise lines, this one still gave you nightly Astor Chocolates on your pillow. Our personable room steward had a pleasant attitude and cleaned our room while fulfilling our towel, bar soap, and tissue requests without an issue. Celebrity always touts itself with having the best service ever, and I agree with them. I never had an issue with friendly guest services resolving inquiries. The friendly and personable staff in the "fixed" main dining room were always accommodating whenever we had shows to attend, and they even greeted us whenever they were working in the buffet. We never experienced sluggish services anywhere on the ship. The bar servers who served us were very friendly as well. This ship has the Solarium. Similar to Royal Caribbean, this is an "adults-only" pool area. On this ship, there is one hot tub on each side, and a pool in the middle. On one side of the area was a wall that changed colors and a base that showed water jumping from one pipe to another. Easy listening (or chill) music played in the background, giving off a vibe that made you feel you were relaxing inside a spa, and the Spa Cafe was located right in this part of the ship. It felt great relaxing in the hot tubs there. I enjoyed watching Lucian Fuller, a comedic juggler who also snuck in some magic tricks. But not only did I watch, but also helped him with two of his acts. For his one act, I gave him my name for his birthday tune prior to his trick. For the other act, myself and another guy who unfortunately experienced stagefright, had to help him climb onto a giant unicycle. It was a fun & hilarious moment on stage. If you ever come across him on your cruise, I highly recommend watching him. There was only one adult comedian on-board, Christina Walkinshaw. I saw one of her shows. Whenever she interacted with random people in the audience, she showed kind-heartedness, like she did to myself and several others. Her jokes were hilarious, however. It would be cool if Celebrity hired extra comedians for variety, though, but I'll take it! Every night at the Martini Bar, the bartenders there performed tricks that involved juggling and pouring drinks in different ways. I recommend watching them, but keep in mind, this spot is always crowded in the late afternoon and especially evening hours. If you're in a social group and share an interest in dancing the night away, then you'll have options on a nightly basis, although some may only occur once or twice. For the first one, we danced to a few country and rock songs played by the Soulful Roots Band. It was fun taking over the small dancefloor in the foyer for a little bit. Live bands can vary nightly, and if you enjoy what they play, then you know what to do. Immediately after dancing to Soulful Roots Band, we participated in the "Shine The Night" party. This high-octane dance party took place on the pool deck once, along with the Silhouette's Singers and Dancers who sang and danced along, all in-sync to Rhythmic A/C hits. If you're very close to the performers, you may be asked to sing or shout along with them, in which I did twice. It was a good party, but keep in mind that if you try to use one of the decorations as a toy to bounce around with the crowd, as what someone else tried to do, you will be stopped by a performer. I understand the temptation of doing so, especially in this environment, but they won't let you do that. You're welcome. Later on during the cruise, we participated in two Silent Disco parties. One was held in the Sky Lounge and the other was out on the blustery Pool Deck. It was cool dancing around to the various hits from "yesterday to today" with those headsets. These parties lasted for only one hour. Make sure you "boo" as loud as possible once the DJ shuts off the music to let him know that you never wanted the party to stop, as what every participant did for both times. On the last sea day, we unexpectedly sailed into a Nor'Easter. During this time for those (including myself) who were prone to and experienced motion sickness, the front and back of the ships were very hazardous. The ship did give out motion sickness pills at guest services, and unlike other cruise lines, there was thankfully no extra charge for them. Speaking of guest services, they also removed an unauthorized room service charge without a problem that night. Speaking of that night during my recovery mode, myself and my social group participated in a music trivia that consisted of boy bands...including one that was never played on the main radio stations here. We tied with another group. It was fun. We also took over the dance floor for two songs after that before leaving, especially since the Sky Lounge was empty due to the rocking of the ship. This is the 2nd 5-star review I've written for a cruise ship, and I'm glad to give this one. I highly recommend Celebrity to anyone who's seeking a week long Bermuda cruise due to their food and service qualities. To those who've met me and/or spent time together (you know who you are), it was a real pleasure! For everyone else, bon voyage!!
