Noordam

Named for the Northern compass point, Noordam dazzles with museum-quality art and lavish staterooms. Guests of this Vista Class cruise ship will have their pick of onboard activities. Watch dramatic footage of natural wonders set to live music at BBC Earth In Concert. Listen to pianists play favourite hits at Billboard Onboard. Get moving with a pilates class at the fitness centre. Or savour the delights of numerous specialty restaurants. The Pinnacle Grill serves the juiciest steak at sea and Canaletto beckons with tantalising Italian dishes. These name just two of many dining options.

Ship Reviews

Holland ships are classy and comfortable. Our inside stateroom on deck 10 was twice the size of other ships. The food was a few steps above other recent cruises. Even the buffet was top notch, with great offerings like ahi tuna and excellent cheeses on the salad bar. The main dining room had an excellent breakfast menu and service was quick. Try the Panasian breakfast if you like salmon. My husband loved the buckwheat pancakes. The Rolling Stone lounge band performed almost every night and they were great. The production shows were good. IMHO, the one area that Holland is lacking is with comedians (but I'm comparing them to Carnival) which can't be surpassed in this category. Our ports, for the most part, were interesting. There were only two that I felt could be eliminated and those gave us a chance to simply enjoy the ship. Even though it's a large ship, I rarely felt like it was too crowded.

Overall the cruise was very enjoyable, I have provided positive feedback to HAL regarding the high standard of service experienced across the ship almost without exception. We also found the main dining to be of a very high standard and amongst the best we have experienced at sea. The quality of the food was overall excellent, staff great. Overall we found the ship to be comfortable, enjoyable and well maintained given its age. The library was a great find and the amount of books available pleasing, as was the great move to locate it adjacent to the Cafe. Congratulations to HAL for their charity walk event which we thought was a good initiative and enjoyed. We enjoyed the itinerary and our port stops that met our expectations. We had some lovely tours arrange through HAL in Juneau and Ketchikan. We missed our first port in Japan due to weather issues which resulted in extended number of sea days and crossing of the date line - we found this to be a negative with just a few to many sea days in a row. (no issue or complaint as the reasoning was explained and understood) - great dining room food; - great gym; - great suite with flatscreen TV and good range of shows; - quite a good variety of activities (passive); - great music trivia (should be on all lines); - fantastic laundry service; - great on board service throughout ship; - on-boarding at Yokohama and disembarkation at Vancouver were pretty good with no issues and good luggage pick up and drop off; - good communication via app and daily activity sheets and through ships announcements; - cabin and ship are a little dated and on the smaller size but well maintained and presented, as were public areas. Not so great - main entertainment was sub par in quality of performances and repetition of acts, some very sub standard, poorly attended and well below comparable lines (Princess) and a long way below RCL very high standard; - specialty restaurants - Pinnacle Grill had a nice ambience and service but food fell short of main dining, - Canaletto was a tacked onto the Lido Market and did not feel like a specialty restaurant in ambience but food was a bit better than Pinnacle - would not pay extra for either as main dining food was excellent overall. - tendering at Kodiak with US customs checks was very poorly organised and confusing, unnecessarily so could have been much better organised. - Lido Market could be very busy and difficulty with finding seating as popular with guests, seems to be common issue across cruise lines. Entertainment standard was possibly the biggest concern and could be substantially improved. The usual jewellery shops; photograph service (well patronised) but not moved to online less obtrusive format; casino appeared to be popular (not used by us) and the dreaded Art for sale or auction that takes up a lot of unnecessary space and time (in our view). We enjoyed the cruise and itinerary a lot as first time with HAL and have another cruise booked with them in Europe in 2026. Would happily recommend if the guest demographics and ships facilities suits your requirements.

Had a great time once we worked out the money Aud to USD. Staff were so accommodating and helpful food was amazing shows were great the Orange night was so much fun. Enjoyed everything about our holiday except for the few people that were rude to the staff. It's said the most of the staff feel they just need to take rudeness. Lucky there were fellow travellers that did step in. And the worst part was that these people would all be over 70yrs. I feel Managers on Noordam need to support there great staff and not allow this. There is no place for bullying anywhere. The only thing I would say about the tours is they were great but felt rushed at times. All the tours were very informative our guides could answer all our questions. We found it easy to have self guided excursions with the support of on board information

Kids & Teens

Holland America Line's youth activities program, Kids Club, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.

Note: Kids Club is not offered on cruises of 25-days or longer, including all Legendary and Grand Voyages. We will offer a selection of children’s activities throughout these longer voyages for any children who may be onboard.

Safety Comes First

Safety is our primary concern and strict policies are in place for effective supervision. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.

Please note: During voyages with a high number of families onboard, we will make all efforts to accommodate interested parties. However, participation in our program cannot be guaranteed. Hours of operation may change to better serve our guests.
