Ship Reviews

Great family weekend getaway. We took the drink package when we booked in December the over cost was surprisingly good value. Ship has lovely decor, lots of open spaces, plenty of room for the 3,000 plus passengers. Dining room food was probably 3 stars but still enjoyable. I’m a diabetic and did advise this, however was never shown an appropriate menu. Drink package was great, however the ice cream deluxe and fresh juice bar were very disappointing, definitely not worth the $20 plus $$$. We had the $49 spa treatment, its was great, the staff were very professional and friendly- so worth it. Entertainment in theatre was fair, but the bands were all excellent The BEST entertainment was everyone dancing “silent” such a great night. Our cabin steward was great went out of his way to accommodate us. Only complaint really was the time it took to get our drinks up to 30 mins. Overall we all had a great time, can’t wait to do it again - thanks Princess

Went on a family cruise to Cairns and Port Douglas. The bad- The ship is big lacks swimming pools for a tropical holiday and the adult pool was not able to be used as the wind rips right through the area is like a wind tunnel. Admittedly though the wind definitely made it helpful to get a lounge and the majority of the patrons were elderly and the pools were not that crowded but if we had perfect conditions. Tenders at nearly every port, we had a delay and most people could not get off the boat to 1pm yes that's right 1 pm. Number 1 issue with this boat, all people were talking about is the tenders. My son is doing the same cruise on a smaller boat next month and has none. Floor on the walk throughs in buffet is that slippery regularly I saw patrons on the floor or recovering. We had an internal room there is very limited space, but never use it much as we are on the boat to enjoy the boat. I always go for an internal room as you can shut the door in the middle of the day and it is pitch black. The main theatre was too small for the size of the boat getting to the theatre 1/2 an hour earlier was essential. Now the positives newish boat decor is not over done and is pleasant to look at. Food was the best I have ever experienced. Buffet or restaurant? Well it didn't matter really I frequented the free restaurants mostly for lunch and dinner as my partner has a garlic and onion food allergy. Well normally on a cruise she gets 2 or 3 items to choose from on this cruise she got the whole menu. It was amazing and wonderful for her, the assistant manager was amazing. The meat has cheaper cuts but for the flavours and care is spot on. The food got better and better as the cruise went on, not sure because it was sailing to the USA for a new menu after was why they went all out. The restaurant wait staff well I have had some good ones, but these guys were the greatest. Hotubs well they are hot as, definitely a short stay! Now my family thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and my wife will only cruise on the Royal Princess now but there is short comings to a big boat there will be tenders, there is lots of people, seating yourself in the buffet is a challenge during buffets busiest times, but the food is always good and ample of it, the gym was great with plenty of choice of machines, definitely I would cruise on this boat again despite the short comings.
