Cruise was great as was the staff. We had cruised last year and the rooms on this ship were tiny compared to last year and apparently we had an upgrade. Also, our first day our first excursion was ridiculous watching in an imax theater the Apollo 11 Experience. I am in Paris why would I want to see that. All of the rest of the excursions were great. The staff was very attentive and the food was great. The fitness instructor was great. We really enjoyed the excursions except the first one - especially the biking. I feel that the crew should evaluate those who bike as we had several people on one excursion who kept us back and one woman even fell off. I also wish the store on the boat offered more local items to purchase. I did enjoy the stops we made and the sites we saw.
This was our first river cruise with AMA Waterways. This cruise was fantastic with one exception (see below). First, the cruise director (Ela) was phenomenal. The cabins were spotless, service was above and beyond, food was great as well. An AMA rep met us at the airport and drove us to our hotel (we had a 2-day pre-cruise package in Paris). I was a little nervous that this part of the cruise was going to be an issue - but it went flawlessly. AMA also handled the transfer from the trip to the airport after the cruise. Drove us to the airport, dropped us off with an AMA rep who helped us check our bags. Very nice. We are already planning our next cruise with AMA. As for the bad part, I felt that the tech aboard the ship could be better. They provided an iMAC (maybe 16 ") with a keyboard an mouse. The WIFI was terrible (less than 10 MBS download speed). The internet was unusable. I do like to watch a movie once in a while at night and I was unable to logon to my accounts with Netflix, HBO, etc. I would have also liked to have my on-board account available to view. We were given a statement at the end of the week with any charges (laundry was very reasonable). There's no reason this can't be available online. If you purchased a drink outside of meals or sip-n-sail, they gave you a paper receipt which you had to sign. All of this could be easily done using your cabin keycard to charge your account. Other than those small inconveniences, the trip was perfect. Looking forward to sailing with them again, I just hope they bring the tech up to date.
Our cruise on the AmaDante was absolutely amazing. The ship is in perfect shape. The food was wonderful. You have to dine at the chef's table. The staff was incredible. This was our first time on a riverboat cruise, but we have been on many ocean cruises. The things I loved about a river cruise is having scenery all the time and the intimate feel of the smaller ship. You truly are taken care of the moment you meet your cruise manager. Our manager, Fatima, was just the best. We came away with a new friend! Our bartenders were very attentive and went out of their way to make our experience memorable. Our captain also was very entertaining! The excursions were all very nice and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. The only negative we had was our cabin was pretty small. We will upgrade to a larger cabin next time, which I hope is in the near future. Thank you to all the crew aboard the AmaDante!
We enjoyed our pre cruise extension in Dinard & vicinity very much and the tours included. Especially, Dinan, StMalo and Mont Saint Michele. Our cruise rep Reka was very attentive and helpful. Our embarkation on AmaDante was smooth, the stateroom clean and comfortable. Our week was inspiring, educational and well organized. We enjoyed our tours to Castles, Chateaus and gardens very much. Normandy Beaches were very awe inspiring. The dining room was comfortable and we could have conversation quietly. Our onboard dining was good but it was not above average. Some meals very good while others when we had steak or filet were not tender etc . Staff and servers were friendly but service often slow. On board entertainment was enjoyable, presentations informative and we generally enjoyed the cruise. Thank you AMA for provided such a well rounded sailing and taking such good care of us on and off the ship.
