Once on the tour, everything was outstanding. Communication and response from booking time until we began the tour was poor. Website inadequate and antiquated. Waleed, our tour manager, was unbelievable and off the chart! He should train booking staff and customer service prior to the tour! Tour guide Amany was wonderful and outstanding too. All crew staff was incredible, and St Regis hotel was excellent! We will definitely choose AmaWaterways again for travel, however, we do hope the front line office provides a better experience next time around. The air fare department was disappointing, wherein the quote they provided us included an 8 hour layover in Warsaw, Poland, arriving a day after the “first day of trip.” Cabin steward was amazing with his creative art and housekeeping. Laundry service was prompt and attentive and did a good job with the laundry. Again, Waleed should be promoted to the highest status and be rewarded monetarily for his outstanding job!
Our overall experience was very good as this is our 2nd River Cruise. Our initial experience with Avalon was terrible in all 3 categories: Service, Entertainment and Food. Amawaterways was more expensive but better bang for our bucks. The selection and preparation of food was very good everyday. In addition to the menu, the dinners included a display of sample dishes for viewing prior to ordering. The service was also very good as our Waiter remembered our individual drinks after the 2nd day. The Room and Storage were a little on the small size but clean and a towel animal was included on our bed everyday. The excursions were knowledge packed and at a good pace. The guides were all qualified Egyptologist and very knowledgeable. The entertainment was well planned and there was full participation from our guides. Waleed, our cruise director, was flexible in accommodating our needs and both Hussan and Toqa were excellent guides. We would definitely consider our next river cruise with AMAWaterways.
There are just too many good things to write about. The ship was amazing, the service impeccable, the waiters, cabin steward and cruise manager. We were blessed with our Egyptologist who was incredibly knowledgeable. All the buses were immaculate and we were happy that we could leave our belongings with the bus driver. The Chef's table had the best meal. The desserts and bread we could not eat enough of. The kindest gentlemen in their onboard gift shop were extremely helpful and had everything you wanted from your Egyptian vacation. We felt so at home. We were excited to try the Egyptian wines and were very impressed. The Egyptian spirits were also tasty. We always felt very safe and had no worries the entire trip. This was a dream come true and Amawaterways made it happen. Again thank you thank you thank you. We look forward to many more cruises with Amawaterways
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience—from the Nile journey itself to the breathtaking temples and the insightful explanations provided by our Egyptologist. The ship, service, and accommodations were all excellent. We stayed in a suite and appreciated the extra space it offered. While the balcony was quite small and we didn’t use it much, the deck provided ample space to enjoy the views while sailing. The food was very good, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover Egyptian wine. This was only our second cruise ever (the first also with Ama), and it confirmed how much we love your product. Everything was seamlessly taken care of, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the experience. We also participated in the post-trip extension to Alexandria and highly recommend it. This Mediterranean city has a distinct character and atmosphere, very different from Cairo, and it was a wonderful complement to the cruise. Overall, this truly was a trip of a lifetime, and we wholeheartedly recommend it.
Unbelievable trip! From the moment we landed in Cairo to the end of- one of best trips I’ve ever taken. We thoroughly enjoyed the St Regis Hotel in Cairo. Check in was easy and Mohammed took care of us providing all the details. The cruise ship experience was fantastic. Entertainment was great. One of my favorite things was the cooking class. I was blown away by the Cairo tours like the abdeen palace and the new GEM. Lunch at Marriott with Indian food was delicious. The Indian food was a hit. We loved the full day of Sakkara, Giza, and GEM. The coordinating of logistics and security was tremendous. As far as the cruise goes: we did 7 nights and it was just amazing. Gliding up and down the Nile with all the food and drinks was just paradise. I liked the food and actually preferred the Egyptian food like shawarma, flat bread, and Egyptian wine. I want to note how impressive the Egyptologist: Asmaa Farouk was. I got so much out of her teaching, it was easy to follow along, and came away with enjoyment of history. She made Egyptian history come alive! I hope to do another trip with Ama at another location but would absolutely LOVE to come back to Egypt, particularly with Mohamed and Asmaa.

The three different categories of suites offer more space with separate sitting areas, upgraded amenities, and enhanced bathrooms for added comfort. Many staterooms and all suites feature French balconies for fresh air and river views.
AmaLilia has two dining venues. There’s the Main Restaurant, where menus have both Western classics and dishes featuring Egyptian and Middle Eastern flavors. The second venue, The Chef’s Table, presents a multi-course tasting menu for a special evening. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs are happily accommodated.
