This is an older ship which does not have many modern amenities But it does have lots of character We have been on numerous ships with numerous companies and they all have positives and negatives So on this ship The negatives Very limited menu in the mdr restaurant that did not seem to change much We only had an inside cabin and this had a very odd bathroom layout Relatively small tv with very limited channels Toilet was very temperamental Daytime entertainment was a bit limited (unless you liked gameshows) American buffet breakfast was ok but no fried eggs Desserts where just ok descriptions sounded good cakes just did not live up to expectations Daily service charge was a bit high Extra tax on drinks when in us ports Limited seating on sea days (assume that if the weather was warmer to sit out this would not be an issue) We seemed to feel a fair bit of movement even though the seas were only moderate Dress code was very casual (we are used to changing into smarter clothes at night (we seemed to be in a minority ) Lots of misleading promotional offers eg 10-20% of duty free (only applied to ncl items ) The positives Great shower Nice toiletries Ship was in a relatively good state Good storage in the cabin O sheehan,s 24 hour eatery limited menu but what they did they did very well (can highly recommend the wrangler burger ) Buffet choice very good with themed evenings grill,american ,italian Music in the spinnaker lounge very good (with dj glenn) Resident entertainment team shows in the theater at night very good Theater design very good sloping seats so everyone can see the stage There was also a good comedian alex ortiz (the adult show) Resident band rockaway duo also very good Freestyle daily was informative Very good choice of wine 7 different red wines Good choice of other drinks as well All the staff very friendy So to sum up we would go on a ncl again Although this review might be irrelevant as straight after the end of our cruise the ship was going into dry dock for an upgrade
My daughter prefers NCL, due to her usually sailing solo. This time we shared a balcony cabin. I usually book an accessible cabin, however none were available. Embarkment went smoothly with wheelchair assistance. The cabin was definitely tight quarters, but especially the bathroom. The toilet area was very uncomfortable to maneuver around. Our room attendant was pretty non-existent, so can't rate him much, other than he did the basics. The food was very good, especially at Jasmine. Drinks were plentiful with our package, but their preparation was inconsistent. The Lemon Drop was amazing every time at the Sake Bar, due to the amazing bartender there. I do wish the pkg included specialty coffees. We did not partake much in the entertainment, however we did enjoy listening to Guitar Man Ralph in Magnum several nights. I would have liked to book the spa for the week, however the pool there would have been too hard to navigate (stairs) with my mobility issues. Overall, we had a very good time.
