We had a great time on Regent's Voyager of the Seas. The ship was recently refurbished and was in wonderful condition. We were in a Seven Seas Suite on deck 9. The 1.5 bathrooms were very practical, especially when getting ready and returning from tours. The best part of the cruise were the crew members. (Marcialyn--Restaurant, Dewi--Restaurant, Kim--Restaurant, Nima--Bar, Leah--Restaurant, I Nyoman--Head Sommelier, Chef Marco--Epicurean Enrichment Studio and Michael--Housekeeping. They provided outstanding service and were warm and sincere. A few of the crew members remembered us from a previous sailing on the Voyager. The Regent Orchestra was a collection of outstanding musicians, (keyboard player, bass player, saxophonist, guitarist and drummer who were from many parts of the world. They were very sociable and could talk about almost anything. We often stayed up late to listen to their late evening sets. The Production Team was a group of young singers and dancers who were friendly and personable, but they lacked the stage polish of shows found on larger cruise lines. The Regent Orchestra was the foundation of the shows, not so much the vocalists. In our opinion, the only strong negative was the variety of breakfast offerings in La Veranda (the buffet). The daily specials were lackluster and everything else was the same day after day. All things considered we had a great time and would do it again.
Regent lite: the most inclusive cruise line is no longer regent. sadly, we are seeing shrinkflation on regent. i understand the economics of no longer including business air. but, while fares are still at 6-star level, inclusiveness is 4-star. no more leather luggage tags for all, fees to move money to casino, crappy internet is what you get with “unlimited wifi unless you pay $20 per day per guest for usable internet. “ unlimited wifi” is clearly and intentionally misleading unless you skip to the very fine print. limiting internet is one thing but making it basically unusable to sell upgrades is not what regent is about (or was about). suggestion: give gold level and above the old services that you are removing to save a few bucks or you will lose your most loyal guests. i don’t like being misled or being pickpocketed on board. you have a great company; let’s preserve it. i am probably moving to viking.
I’ve cruised many times on mainstream cruise lines, mostly because of the lower cost. A friend kept raving about Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC), but I always assumed it was far outside my budget. Eventually, I found a sailing priced similarly to what I’d spend on a land vacation, so I decided to give it a try. We booked the Concierge category, which includes a pre-cruise hotel night and transportation from London to Southampton. The price difference wasn’t huge, but the convenience was significant — it completely removed the stress of getting to the terminal from London. The included hotel was the Rosewood London, a lovely way to start the trip. Embarkation was smooth. It felt like we were the last to board as there were no lines at all — a theme that continued throughout the cruise. The ship had just come out of dry dock in May, and everything looked refreshed and well maintained. Our suite on Deck 9 exceeded expectations. It was spacious, with a couch, coffee table, and a welcome bottle of sparkling wine was awaiting for us. The balcony felt a bit tight only because it had full-size lounge chairs and a table, but still offered enough room to move around. The bed was extremely comfortable, the closet had more hangers than I’ve ever seen on a ship, and the bathroom was fantastic — a proper walk‑in shower and plenty of counter space. Concierge-level suites also include an Illy coffee maker, which we used daily. Overall, the suite was one of the highlights of the trip. We loved the valet laundry service. If you set your items out before 9 a.m., they were returned the same day — incredibly convenient. Our cabin attendants were fantastic. They seemed to be everywhere, always working, and always available. The suite was consistently spotless. Excursions The included excursions were very good, with enough variety that we never struggled to book what we wanted. The Excursion Desk was helpful when we needed to switch tours or adjust times, and things do change frequently, so checking in is worthwhile. Entertainment Entertainment was solid. The ship’s dancers and singers were talented, and there were live musicians, guest performers, and variety shows. Seating was never an issue — we usually arrived just a few minutes before showtime and still found good seats. If you’re particular about where you sit, arriving earlier helps, but it’s nothing like the 30‑minute‑early scramble on other lines. There were so many things to do onboard. They do a great job to ensure all guests have a great time. Dining La Veranda (the buffet) was excellent for breakfast and lunch. There were always a few special dishes, and I often ended up with freshly grilled fish or pasta at lunch. Service was impeccable — servers constantly circulated offering wine, beer, champagne, or soft drinks. At breakfast, don’t miss the fresh‑squeezed juices. We also enjoyed the Poolside Grill, which serves everything from pizza and burgers to grilled fish. Service was great, though I personally preferred dining indoors. Compass Rose, the main dining room, was a mixed experience. Our first dinner was excellent, but food and service were inconsistent on subsequent nights. During peak dinner hours, service slowed noticeably. Prime 7 (the steakhouse) was comparable to specialty restaurants on other cruise lines, with the major difference being that it’s included. You can reserve once pre-cruise, and additional reservations may be available onboard through the Dining Desk — yes, there’s a dedicated desk open daily just for dining arrangements. Chartreuse, the French restaurant, was also included and limited to one reservation. The food was good. Sette Mari - the Italian specialty restaurant ended up being our favorite. No reservation is required, though there’s usually a wait after 7 p.m. Of all the venues, this one had the best service. Drinks & Service There are many lounges throughout the ship, each with slightly different drink menus. Since almost everything is included, except certain premium beverages and excursions, we didn't need to use our room key, except when we purchased something from the gift shop. It was a refreshing change from the constant signing slips on other lines. Fitness As mentioned by other reviewers, the gym is on the smaller side, and while some of the equipment could use an upgrade, it was perfectly adequate for my workouts. I usually went in the late afternoon and often had the entire space to myself. I appreciated the steam sauna, a feature you typically don’t get on other cruise lines without purchasing a spa package. The only improvement I’d suggest is adding a hair dryer in the ladies’ locker room. Final Thoughts I truly enjoyed the suite, the valet laundry, the included excursions, the steam sauna, and the blissful absence of lines. Service was generally very good, with only a few inconsistent moments. Overall, I’m glad I tried. It delivered a noticeably elevated experience compared to mainstream cruise lines as one would expect at the price point.
